Sunday Today we got a guided tour around London which I really enjoyed.  Especially because we didn't have to walk.  I think I've done enough walking tours.  I loved our tour guide, she was really good.  I liked seeing the famous spots and historical places.  It never ceases to amaze me how much history is in England.  I feel like I'm always immersed in it.  Maybe it's that way in …

  • Going to Ireland

    by: ElizabethWhitehead

After having one of the best breakfasts ever, we are heading off to Ireland.  For many people it’s their last week and they are going home Sunday.  I, however, will be going to Barcelona after this week.  I’m both happy and sad about this.  I’m a little bit jealous of the people who get to go home now.  I wish I could be seeing my family, sleeping in my own …

So I can’t believe that I have already been in Australia for a month! Time sure does fly and there is still so much more I want to see! This weekend was the trip I had been waiting for, the trip to Port Stephens. We really lucked out because the weather was absolutely beautiful for the trip. We started out on the 3-hour bus drive with high hopes.             Our first …

Hello friends and family! Apologies for my lack of blogging lately. It's hard to get motivated to write after I've been taking a siesta every day : )  Just kidding... sort of.  Let me start by saying that I've officially entered into culture shock.  The observations of Spanish culture I'm about to make may sound negative, but don't think that I'm criticizing Spain.  I'm simply pointing out the differences, and since we …

So, I have been in Dublin for 7 days now. Six of which I have had alcohol. And, I have people wanting to see me drunk, so I apologize for everyone back home who has to miss out :(. But, I'm still having loads of fun. On Thursday, we went to the Brazen head pub which is the oldest pub in Dublin. We learned about some folklore and Irish history. …

  • Glasgow

We left Oban today to make our way to Glasgow.  Our first stop on the way there was a Inverary Castle, home to the Duke of Argylle.  It was really different then the other castles we’ve seen.  It’s far from being a ruin; it’s more like a museum inside a castle.  I enjoyed touring the castle and seeing the different artifacts.  The castle itself is interesting and beautiful- very grand …

This morning I got to enjoy a delightful breakfast at the hotel.  They served so much food for breakfast here, and it’s hard not to overeat. It’s no wonder that obesity is becoming such an issue in Britain.  (At least that’s what I read in their newspapers.)  I need to do some running!             We took the ferry to go see Duart Castle today.  Unlike the other castles we have visited, …

We got to sleep in today, which was really nice.  I love getting a good night’s sleep.  It makes it easier for me to keep awake on the bus the next day.  I really got a chance to admire the scenery.  The beauty of Scotland is breathtaking.  I take pictures, but they never quite reflect what I’m seeing.  On our way to Oban, we stopped at the famous Loch Ness!  …

  • Iverness and Jacobites

We are now on our way to Iverness.  Our bus journey there was lead by our Celtic tour guide, Michael.  The first thing we learned about was the Forth Bridge.  Apparently people were afraid to trust bridges, so he made this one extra strong and even sat on the model to prove its strength.  It was quite an amazing bridge; I’ve never seen one like it.   We then moved onto …

Today is our last day in Edinburgh.  We are doing quite a bit of traveling now and rarely stay in a place for one night or two at the most.  I’m going to start packing an overnight bag so I don’t have to haul my big bag everywhere.              We started the day by seeing yet another castle.  This one highlighted the military of England.  It was actually quite interesting.  I …
